Today is World Day of Social Justice and we are celebrating by highlighting the important work done by our friends and allies in the social justice space. We acknowledge the work of these fine organisations and are proud to take a moment to shine a light on the awesome work they do!

Reflecting on Intersex Awareness Day 2024, it was a vibrant and meaningful celebration filled with various activities that highlighted the importance of intersex rights and community. Coming up on 29 and 30 October we are pleased to support two workshops with friend of IHRA Dr Gávi Ansara, as part of our program of events between Intersex Awareness Day and Intersex Day of Solidarity.
According to recent Australian research, registered "LGBTIQ+ organisations receive just 5 cents out of every $100 received by Australian charities". Resourcing for intersex-led and intersex-focused work is a fraction of that fraction.
Intersex Human Rights Australia unanimously supports the establishment of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice in this year's referendum. We encourage anyone who meaningfully engages with human rights issues to vote yes in the referendum on 14 October.
Ten years ago today, this site publicly introduced the intersex flag to the world for the first time. The design by Morgan Carpenter incorporated colours in yellow and purple, unassociated with gender.
Today, and with cross-party support, the ACT Assembly has passed legislation introduced by Andrew Barr in March to protect the human rights of people with innate variations of sex characteristics in medical settings.

Our Australian staff and board live and work on First Nations lands. We recognise that sovereignty over this land was never ceded and that this always was and always will be Aboriginal land. We acknowledge the continued connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to land, waterways and community and pay our respects to all First Nations people.
