InterAction's Intersex Awareness Day Online Gala 2025 was a special evening filled with celebration, pride, acknowledgement and the warmth of community.
At InterAction's Intersex Awareness Day Online Gala on Sunday 26th October, the highlight of the evening's celebrations was the announcement of The Darling- the award given to ally individuals or organisations who have made a contribution beyond signing the Darlington Statement to progress the health and human rights of people with innate variations of sex characteristics in Australia. And in 2025, the award was presented to two worthy winners- Dr Thomas Drake-Brockman and Dr Jasmine Davis.

Reflecting on Intersex Awareness Day 2024, it was a vibrant and meaningful celebration filled with various activities that highlighted the importance of intersex rights and community. Throughout the week, a series of events were organised to foster understanding, support, advocacy… and to celebrate!
Ten years ago today, on 25 October 2013, a Senate Committee published a report on the ‘Involuntary or coerced sterilisation of intersex people in Australia’. This was the first parliamentary inquiry into intersex health anywhere in the world, and we celebrate it for this!
Coming up on 29 and 30 October we are pleased to support two workshops with friend of IHRA Dr Gávi Ansara, as part of our program of events between Intersex Awareness Day and Intersex Day of Solidarity.
Intersex Day of Solidarity is coming up next week. In this webinar we talk to Simone-Lisa Anderson about what intersex allyship looks like and how organisational support can help build our advocacy.

Our Australian staff and board live and work on First Nations lands. We recognise that sovereignty over this land was never ceded and that this always was and always will be Aboriginal land. We acknowledge the continued connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to land, waterways and community and pay our respects to all First Nations people.
