IHRA has made a submission to a Queensland Parliament committee inquiry into reform of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Bill. The Bill proposes changes to the period for registrations of some births, and some reforms to the Anti-Discrimination Act.

The submission:

  • supports proposals to simplify changes to birth certificates
  • expresses concern about proposals to reform birth registration processes
  • supports proposals to reform anti-discrimination law
  • calls for further legislative reform

The submission was written for IHRA by Morgan Carpenter.

We also appended a copy of our 2022 submission to the Queensland Human Rights Commission on reform of the Anti-Discrimination Act.
